full transparency

In the interest of full transparency, we wanted to tell all potential donors exactly how Big Love Sanctuary uses your donations.

Big Love Sanctuary has it's own bank account.  All monetary donations are deposited or received into the Big Love Sanctuary account held by Randolph Brooks Credit Union.

Expenses paid through the Big Love Sanctuary account cover feed, vet bills, basic care needs, habitat or enclosure maintenance, educational supplies, staffing, volunteer support, and any other purpose that directly relates to the support and well being of the sanctuary animals and the learning opportunities we host.

Tangible assets gifted or purchased directly by Big Love Sanctuary, are owned and belong to the sanctuary.  Big Love Sanctuary Bylaws Article 7.05 Distribution of Assets states, "Upon the dissolution of the organization, assets shall be distributed for one or more exempt purposes within the meaning of section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, or corresponding section of any future federal tax code, or shall be distributed to the federal government, or to a state or local government, for the public purpose.  Any such assets not disposed of shall be disposed of by the District Court of the county in which the principal office of the organization is then located, as said court shall determine."  In other words, assets will always belong to Big Love Sanctuary or will otherwise be donated forward to another non-profit organization.

Until such time Big Love Sanctuary obtains it's own land and facility, it will be situated on the organization founders personal property.  Expenses relating to the property, equipment, utilities or any other expense where the a title is held in the founders own name, are paid for by the founders, not with Big Love Sanctuary funds.

Big Love Sanctuary follows all generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) that nonprofits must follow.  Budgets and financials statements, along with fund accounting reports are maintained as part of the accountability process and board review.
